I'm sure we all have at least one friend who can eat anything they want. For years I secretly hated those people. There they are at work or family parties, a plate with all the tasty foods we are salivating over. Sometimes we give in and just eat it. Other times we try to stay strong and leave it, while cursing their skinny little behinds, as they say, "I can eat anything I want", and gloat in your face. (Well, at least it seems like they're gloating) But here's the thing I've finally realized. We can eat anything we want too. I know, I know, you're saying that's not true for you. But I promise it is. And the difference is in the wording.
"Anything" is NOT the same as "everything". I have watched these skinny little friends of mine. And they really do eat anything they want. But their secret that they never let on about is that they only have a small amount. You watch them. They have a well balanced plate. And you can still see the bottom of the plate, even with all their food on it. They eat slowly, food does not seem to be their focus. They chew their food. They savor each bite. Just as an earlier post, entitled The Tapas Mentality, we have to make this our default setting for our brain. If we can do that, we really can eat anything we want and not have it affect our weight. We just have to remember that anything does not mean the same as everything...
